Ja, ik was er dus een weekje tussenuit, en er veel meer tussenuit dan ik voorzien had. Zelfs mijn ‘Garden Bloggers Bloom day’ berichtje, dat op een paar details na klaar was voor publicatie, is daardoor niet on-line gekomen.
Een heerlijke vakantie gehad trouwens…
Enerzijds was het weer er net zo lente-achtig als het hier in Belgie was, anderzijds was er nog voldoende sneeuw om ook manlief en zoonlief een prachtige week te bezorgen.
Toch heb ik minder wilde bloemen gevonden dan twee jaar geleden in februari in Zwitserland. Daar zal de lange en koude winter dan ook wel voor iets tussen zitten.
De bonte krokussen (Crocus vernus) bloeiden volop, bij duizenden, bij tienduizenden tegelijk.
Eén dag was het weer wat minder goed: bewolkt, koud en winderig… Maar dat werd de volgende dag goed gemaakt door een laagje verse sneeuw, dat – in de ochtendzon – het landschap helemaal sprookjesachtig maakte.
Alpine Spring
Yes, I was gone for a week… and more ‘gone’ than I had planned. I even didn’t publish the post I had prepared for Garden Bloggers Bloom day (but it will come in the next few days).
We had a really beautiful holiday.
The weather was warm and mild, but there was still enough snow for the ski-lovers.
Until two weeks ago, it has been cold in Austria, and spring is late, so I found less flowers than I saw two years ago in February (the last winter I was skiing myself… but I injured my knee, and that bothered me for half a year, so now I decided to go walking instead.)
The Spring Crocuses (Crocus vernus) were blooming, thousands and thousands of them.
And lots of liverleaf (Hepatica nobilis). I knew those flowers to be blue, but here I also saw lots of white ones (see picture in the Dutch part – scroll up).
One day, the weather was not so well: cold, clouded, lots of wind… But as a means of compensation, we got a fresh blanket of snow the next morning, which – in the golden light of the morningsun – transformed the landscape into a fairytale.
Dat ziet er helemaal niet verkeerd uit. En sneeuw en voorjaar.
Wat mooi al die 10-duizenden krokusjes, daar wordt een mens blij van! Zo te lezen heb je een heerlijk vakantie gehad en steeds de juiste prioriteiten gesteld: wandelen boven internetten. 😉
Witte leverbloempjes zie je hier inderdaad wat minder vaak, niet dat dat zo erg is want de blauwtjes mogen er ook heel erg wezen.
mooi! En groot gelijk dat je de computer eventjes gelaten hebt voor wat het was. Staan er nu bonte krokusjes in jullie tuin of heb je je weten te beheersen? 🙂

Hi Anne, what a beautiful spot for a vacation. I am glad you were able to walk and enjoy yourself after the injury from last year. Maybe taking more time to enjoy the beauty around you. The crocus and hepaticas are so sweet and cheerful.

The field of Crocus vernus is beautiful. The small bulbs always look so good when they are naturalized in large patches. The bright white Hepatica nobilis must be very noticeable in the fields.
